New Date for Old Town Holiday Event Is Rare for Suwanee

Forecasts of inclement weather prompt the shift.

Updated Dec. 9

It took a 60 percent chance of rain to force Suwanee officials to reschedule an event.

But the annual Caboose Lighting and Old Town Suwanee holiday event indeed has been put back, to Sunday, Dec. 15, starting at 5 p.m.

"This is not something we normally do," Economic Development Director Denise Brinson said Thursday, shortly after officials decided to reschedule the festivities. They had originally been scheduled for Friday (Dec. 6).

However, the holiday event involves several hundred students from Suwanee elementary schools, who sing Christmas songs as part of the festivities. Also, vendors are affected.

That will mean a heavy dose of holiday activities in Suwanee the following weekend, as Christmas in the Park is scheduled for Dec. 13-14 in Town Center Park.
