5 Ways to Improve Your Email Marketing

Email marketing is an easy (and free!) way to reach your clients. But, just like your website, social media and print pieces – you have to be intentional about the content and design of your emails!

I've been lucky enough to work with Unique Venues the last several weeks on a few of their email marketing campaigns and am now re-designing their e-newsletters!

It's been great working with Unique Venues, as they are very intentional about their emails and always stay true to their brand. Plus, they love good design :-)

But, are YOU making the most of your emails? Here are five ways you can improve your emails:

  1. Make sure your emails match your brand. Even if you start with a template, make sure you customize it so that the colors and fonts match your brand! Try to keep your emails consistent to a degree, so that your clients become familiar with your brand. And, ALWAYS put your logo in your emails!
  2. Test your emails to see how they work on mobile devices. According to ReturnPath, 63% of people in the U.S. (and 41% of Europeans) are likely to close or delete your email if it's not mobile-friendly!
  3. Add social links! If your emails are good, people will want to share it with their friends. Make it easy for them – too many steps, and people won't bother with it. You always want more people looking at your content, right?
  4. Be personal, not robotic. Don't be afraid to jazz up your emails with some flare – your brand has a personality of its own, show it! Use "you" in the emails to be more persuasive. Stop using generic greetings.
  5. Link up! Drive your clients to your website, or your social media channels. Post links to articles or blog posts on your website. People tend to not read long emails. Try shortening your content to snippets of information, posting all the info on your website, and adding a "Click here to read more!" link in your email. (Much like the green button in the email above!)
