North Gwinnett Co-Op Breaks Ground on New Site

The non-profit is developing a new building in Buford.

The North Gwinnett Co-Operative Ministries, a non-profit that provides food, clothing, lights, heat, water and other assistance to Suwanee area residents, has broken ground on a new building site in Buford.

According to a recent news release, "This vision and plan has been a dream for some time now, and to see it come to fruition with the dedication and commitment of our Board of Directors, supporters and volunteers, in this economy, is a blessing to those we serve."

The co-op purchased its new home recently and the interior construction of the new space has begun.

"It is time that the North Gwinnett Co-Operative grows up from being a 'band-aid' agency to being a life-changing agency by bridging critical gaps for families during times of crisis," said Maureen Kornowa, executive director of the co-op, in the news release.

Kornowa said the grand opening is expected in September, and said people can visit the website to make an online donation to the Capital Building Fund or to become a volunteer.
