Dangerous intersection

There was another accident today at the intersection of Satellite Blvd and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. That traffic light needs to be replaced with a single light for left turns with only the green turn arrow, which stops turns when it changes to red. The current light has the green turn arrow, but then goes to green (no arrow) and inpatient drivers don't see oncoming cars and turn left directly in front of them. I've almost done it myself. Cars on the other side of the light waiting to turn left block your view of oncoming cars and once you're in the intersection there is nowhere to go. I've emailed Gwinnett County about this but haven't heard back. Please get involved and push for a change of traffic lights before one of your family or friends becomes a victim of this dangerous intersection.

I strongly support this effort to change the light. It is very strange in the way it operates and the view is not clear. My wife hates that corner and prays to be the first one at the light when it changes.

Ross, who at Gwinnett County did you email?

Steve, I remember about a year ago, you had a post on this site asking people to list either the most dangerous roads or intersections. On it, I named this intersection and the recommendation of changing the light. No one else commented on it, so I assumed it didn't make the list of dangerous intersections. I sent it around that time. The recent accident just reminded me how dangerous it is. When I emailed them I went to gwinnettcounty.com and clicked on the Transportation link. I did not send it to a particular person, but to either one of the "contact us" links or "report a problem" links. The page looks updated since then.
