Gwinnett Lingerie Football: Name the New Team

Soon, women will be playing football in lingerie in the Gwinnett Arena. Put a name on the new team here.

There is a "name the team" contest going for the new Lingerie Football League team that plans to play in the Gwinnett Arena in 2013. And this seems to be a rather unique opportunity.

Bulldogs, Tigers, Lions? C'mon now.

Already, the league that began play in 2009 has teams with such nicknames as Sin and Temptation. Clearly, it is not shy about its marketing appeal.

And in a Facebook posting Tuesday (Oct. 2), the LFL said it has been "flooded by fan and player hopeful emails" since it announced its Gwinnett plans.

The league has invited people to submit nickname entries to  LFLinAtlanta@LFLUS.com. Fan-selected team names must be submitted by Friday, October 19, 2012, for consideration.

In typical Patch fashion, we also ask you to post your ideas here. And yes, both your mother and the Suwanee Patch editor are watching.

Gwinnett Arena officials confirm that the league has an agreement to play games there on April 13 and May 18, 2013. No ticket information is available now, and arena officials say those events will be put on the calendar when artwork from the league arrives.

And for you LFL newbies, which is probably most of you, their football is seven on seven, with no punting or field goals.
