VIDEO: Gwinnett Lingerie Football Team: Call It 'Atlanta Steam'

The league announces the winner of the fan-based contest. A tryout is coming in November.

That Lingerie Football League team that plans to play in Gwinnett in 2013? Just call it the Atlanta Steam.

In a news release, LFL officials announced that "Atlanta Steam" was the most popular choice of almost 4,300 team name submissions. That was among the strongest responses for such an effort in an expansion market.

It's an appropriate team name for the LFL, which is not shy about its marketing appeal. Other team names include "Sin" and "Temptation."

Regarding the Atlanta tryout, the league said it has received "greater interest from prospective players than in any other market in the history of the league."

In the LFL, football is seven on seven, with no punting or field goals. The Steam plans to play games in the Gwinnett Arena in April and May 2013.
