Argument Over NFL Game Led to Shooting in Duluth, Police Say

Man is charged with aggravated assault after the Saturday incident at Applebee's on Pleasant Hill Road.

A man is being held in the Gwinnett Detention Center without bond after he shot two men Saturday evening in Duluth after an argument about the Saints-49ers NFL playoff game, Gwinnett Police say.

Donald Ray Ayro, 31 (address not known) was apprehended on I-85 after leaving the shooting at Applebee's restaurant on Pleasant Hill Road, police say.

Wounded were Christopher Middleton, 30, of Stone Mountain and Corey Adams, 30, of Duluth, police said.

Reports say Ayro became upset with the other men while they were watching the game inside the Applebee's. A short time later, Ayro confronted Middleton andΒ  Adams in the parking lot and open fire on them with a handgun, police said. Ayro fired several rounds and left the area in his vehicle.

A short time later, officers located the suspect and his vehicle as he traveled south in Interstate 85 near Jimmy Carter Boulevard and stopped him for questioning. They developed probable cause for the arrest.

Charges include aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Other charges are possible, police say. Middleton was wounded in the abdomen, Adams was grazed in the head, police said
