Football Coming to Kennesaw State - Kennesaw Patch

Score one for Kennesaw State. The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia on Wednesday approved Kennesaw State’s request for a football program.

"Touchdown," Kennesaw athletic director Vaughn Williams said.

The decision comes a little more than one month after the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia decided to take Kennesaw State’s request for a football program "under further study."

Metro Residents Excited Over Obama Visit - Decatur Patch

Almost everybody in Decatur is buzzing over the president's visit. He'll arrive at Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta in the late morning, stop at the Learning Center and make remarks at the Decatur Recreation Center before heading back to Washington in the afternoon.

Decatur is a solidly Democratic town in Red State Georgia. Though the state went for Romney in the November election, Decatur residents overwhelmingly voted for Obama, with 77 percent casting ballots to re-elect the president.

Group Loses Challenge to Block Walmart - North Druid Hills Patch

The DeKalb Zoning Board of Appeals has rejected an appeal by a local organization fighting the construction of a Walmart Supercenter in Suburban Plaza.

The board rejected the challenge by Good Growth DeKalb, the local organization fighting the project, during its Wednesday afternoon meeting.

The project is now cleared to move forward, unless Good Growth DeKalb decides to file additional lawsuits to block the project.
