President to Visit Decatur School - Decatur Patch

President Obama will visit the College Heights Early Childhood Learning Center in Decatur on Thursday during his visit to the Atlanta area.

The visit was announced Friday with few details, but College Heights Principal Suzanne Kennedy sent a note to parents about the President's plans to drop into the school at 917 S. McDonough St., according to Decatur Metro.

Authorities Seek Bank Robbery Suspect - Alpharetta Patch

The FBI and Alpharetta police are asking for the public's help to find a man responsible for the armed robbery of the BB&T Branch on North Point Parkway on Monday.

A lone black male entered the branch at 5690 North Point Parkway at approximately 9:53 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, and announced a robbery. According to an FBI blog, the robber placed a handgun onto the teller counter. He was given an undisclosed amount of money and left the bank without further incident.

Rain and Wind Brings Down Trees and Power Lines - Buckhead Patch

After 24 hours of heavy rain and some heavy wind, trees and power lines have been coming down throughout Atlanta.

The steady rains have softened the ground enough that a brisk wind can cause trees to topple over and pull themselves from the ground with their roots intact.

A program that fines motorists who zip by Cobb school buses without stopping generated more than $58,000 during its first two months.

During this morning's Board of Commissioners meeting, which is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the County Building, 100 Cherokee St., officials are expected to split the first payout from the program between the Cobb County School District, the Cobb County Police Department and an outside vendor.

A Bethlehem resident is facing child molestation charges after a 15-year-old told a school resource officer she was given alcohol at the suspect's residence and awoke to him touching her. 

The teen accused the suspect of getting her drunk, then trying to put his hands down her pants. The alleged incidents occurred in 2012.
