Controversial verdict has many talking.

Updated 9:52 a.m., July 7, 2011

It was easy to find conversations and opinions Wednesday about the not guilty verdicts in the Casey Anthony murder trial.

"I can't believe it," Suwanee resident Kristen Corson said was her reaction when she was watching on TV on Tuesday as the verdict was announced.

"I had been following (the trial) daily ... I think that she is guilty as sin, but I can understand why she wasn't convicted. It's our justice system. They didn't have proof of how she did it."

Anthony was acquitted on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child. She was convicted on four counts of lying to law enforcement.

She was sentenced Thursday to four years in prison. She could go free in July or August, depending on how much credit she gets for time served.

Mary Jo Murray of Suwanee also had been following the case, which became a national topic.

"The (Anthony) parents left fast," Murray said. "I figure the parents think she (Casey Anthony) did it."

Corson said the trial in Florida reminded her of the O.J. Simpson murder trial in California. "I saw the look on (Casey Anthony's) face ... it's like 'Holy smoke, I got off.' "

Kee Murray, Mary Jo Murray's husband, made two points.

"Anytime you are lying or withholding evidence, you are doing so for a reason," he said. "To me it always implicates guilt.

"Giggling after the verdict ... it's like O.J. (Simpson). Never do that. It's like adding insult to injury."

Tracy Day of Buford said he did not follow the 36-day trial closely. "I said 'she's going to get away with it.' They couldn't connect the dots."
