Fire Destroys Suwanee Home on Monday

No injuries reported. Cause appears accidental.

A family's home was destroyed Monday by a fire in the 4600 block of Arbor Crest Place in Suwanee. But the two adults and four children reported no injuries, and the cause of the blaze appears to be accidental.

When police arrived Monday after the call at 5:37 a.m., they noticed the garage area engulfed in flames, Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said. Firefighters discovered heavy fire involvement from the main floor and garage area of the two-story, wood frame house (with basement) on arrival.

Crews shot water from several hose lines and an aerial ladder pipe to knock down the bulk of the flames from the exterior of the home.

Investigators said the fire apparently originated in the laundry area on the first floor near the clothes dryer. The home has been declared a total loss. The family is being assisted by friends.
