Burglar Attempts To Steal ATM With Van, Cable - Norcross Patch

Gwinnett County Police believe a suspect or suspects attempted to steal the ATM inside a CVS pharmacy in the Norcross area by dragging it out with a cable attached to a van.

Officers reported to a burglary alarm that went off at the 1190 Indian Trail Road business around 2:29 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, according to the police report.

The store's front windows were broken, and police believe it was smashed with the hammer found near the glass. The Chase Bank ATM was behind the glass in the store, but the ATM sign donning the bank name was not attached.

The sign was located nearby with a steel cable wrapped around it, the report says. The other end of the cable was attached to an unoccupied, but running, van that was parked at the store's back entrance.

It is believed that the cable was thrown over the top of the ATM and the vehicle attempted to pull out the ATM, but failed to complete the task.

No suspects were located in the building or the surrounding areas.

School Brawl Leaves One Injured, Four Suspended – Tucker Patch

Four students have been suspended from Tucker High School after a fight last week that injured an employee who tried to intervene.

The brawl started after school last Wednesday behind the main building, according to WSB-TV. School security officer Jarvis Brown and other members of staff attempted to break up the ruckus, resulting in broken bones in Brown's right ankle that required surgery in hospital.

“A police officer got hit. The police officer who works at the school, he got hit a couple of times. He was taken away in a stretcher,” student Adia Reid said.
