Storm Hits Suwanee; Damage in Gwinnett

No damage reported in Suwanee by Gwinnett emergency crews Wednesday.

The predicted storm hit Suwanee on Wednesday evening, bringing rain, lighting and thunder. Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services crews responded to 124 incidents in a 90-minute time period, according to a news release. The 911 calls were coming into the "war room" at the rate of 535 calls per hour at the height of the storm, said Capt. Tommy Rutledge of GCFES.

A tree was down on a house in the 2800 block of Cardinal Lake Drive in Duluth with significant damage. The occupants were home at the time and escaped unharmed; they have been displaced.

A tree also was reported down on a house in Lilburn, in the 1000 block of Saw Grass Court. No injuries were reported.

In Lawrenceville, a tree was reported down at 3000 Dowry Drive. In Snellville, a tree was reported down on a townhome at 3138 Sloping Terrace, and the occupants were displaced. No injuries were reported.

Georgia Power reported that there were 9,200 power outages in metro Atlanta and 38,000 statewide as of 7 a.m. Thursday.
