Suwanee Organizing Another Citizens Police Academy

Registration ends March 2 for the eight-week program.

For the eighth year, the Suwanee Police Department is offering its popular Citizens Police Academy. More than 300 individuals have participated in this hands-on, eight-week program, according to a city news release.

Classes for the spring session will be offered at 6:30 Tuesday evenings, beginning March 20 at the Suwanee Police Department, 373 Buford Highway. Those wishing to participate must provide notarized applications by 5 p.m. Friday, March 2. Applications are available at www.suwanee.com.

The program offers residents a better understanding of the day-to-day functions, risks, and experiences of Suwanee police officers. Topics addressed include crime-scene processing, traffic stops, building searches, crime prevention, and narcotics identification.
