Suwanee PD Plans No Extra Security for 'Dark Knight'

The Movie Tavern in Suwanee plans no changes in show times, company CEO says.

Suwanee Police spokesperson Capt. Clyde Byers said Friday morning that the department plans no extra security locally in the wake of the overnight shooting that killed 12 people and injured 50 at a showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" in suburban Denver.

"Not at this time," Byers said.

The movie, the latest installmen in the new "Batman" series, is showing at the Movie Tavern in Suwanee. CEO John Hersker of the Dallas-based company issued the following statement Friday:

"We are deeply saddened by the turn of events in Aurora, Col. and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. The safety of our guests and employees is the top priority for Movie Tavern. At this time, we believe what happened in Aurora, Col. was an isolated incident, but we will continue to monitor the situation and adjust security measures as necessary. We send our thoughts and prayers to the victims, their families and the people of Aurora."
