Suwanee Police in Fund Raiser for Injured GCPS Officer

A basketball game in honor of Robert Jimenez will be Friday at Lanier High in Sugar Hill.

Several Suwanee Police officers will be participating in a fund-raiser basketball game Friday (March 15) in honor of a Gwinnett schools' resource officer who was injured in a traffic accident.

GCPS officer Robert Jimenez was injured in February while he was directing traffic in the morning at Lanier High. Police reports say that a motorist did not heed Jimenez's warnings, and hit Jimenez with her vehicle.

Officer Robert McCoy and several other Suwanee officers will take on the Lanier High faculty Friday at 6 p.m. at Lanier High in Sugar Hill. Also, some members of the Gwinnett Police Department will be participating.

According to a Facebook post dated March 13 about Jimenez:

It’s been a really rough road for him (and our family) but with the prayers and support from our families, friends, co-workers and the community it’s made things a little more bearable. Thank you all!
