Suwanee Police Substation Work Is Progressing

Opening is believed possible in July, official says.

Work is moving along smoothly on the new Suwanee Police substation at I-85, and a July completion is now thought possible.

Mike Maddox of MorelandAltobelliAssociates, the project manager, told city officials recently that the two-story facility is going up well. Though the main police headquarters and dispatch operations will remain at the , the new structure will house a state of the art firing range that also can be leased out to other agencies.

It is not known exactly when police will begin to occupy the structure.

, which has a total project cost of $1.9 million. Police say the substation will give them greater visibility in the Gateway area, which is a high priority for redevelopment with City Hall officials. It is located at I-85 and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road.

Tunnell Spangler Walsh of Norcross is the architect, with Hogan Construction in charge of erecting the facility.
