Updated Nov. 6

The mother of two Gwinnett County boys who were killed in a 2012 Lake Lanier boating incident testified Tuesday about the crash, according to media reports.

Tara Prince told a Hall County courtroom that she heard “an enormously loud crashing sound ... Being stopped dead in the water. I saw stuff flying over my head and landing in the water behind us," according to ajc.com.

Tara Prince was testifying in the opening day of the trial of Paul Bennett of Cumming, who is facing several charges in connection with the deaths of Griffin Prince, 13, and Jake Prince, 9. Charges include boating under the influence and homicide by vessel.

According to authorities, a boat piloted by Bennett crashed into a pontoon boat piloted by the Prince boys' father in June 2012. Bennett also is charged with failing to render aid after the crash.

Tara Prince also testified Tuesday about the crash: “Sitting next to my dead little boy and thinking of my other little boy sinking to the bottom of the lake, I yelled out to him, ‘What are you crying about? You killed my family.' "
