Thefts From Vehicles Reported in Suwanee Parks Areas

One incident is linked to similar incidents in other metro jurisdictions, police say.

There have been some incidents of thieves entering autos in Suwanee parks areas recently, which has police sounding an alert.

According to Capt. Cass Mooney of Suwanee Police, there have been two reported entering-autos cases in Suwanee parks in the past two months.  In one case, the suspects were linked to other entering-autos cases in other metro jurisdictions the same day.

People can help protect themselves from such crimes by locking their valuables in the trunk and not leaving them on the seat or floorboard of the vehicle, Mooney added.

A Patch reader relayed via email the experience of a friend who said she was a victim in Suwanee. Part of the victim's email read:

-They use the credit cards immediately (in my case within 20 minutes of discovering purse was stolen, purchased premium gas 5 miles away). They use checks and ATM cards at big banks and go through the third drive through lane, so it is difficult to see them. My DL and ATM card were used at, GO FIGURE, my bank’s nearby branch several days after the robbery. The teller knew me, and was clever enough to ask the 25 year old girl in the sports car for the last four digits of my SS#. The girl sped off, but at least I got back my DL and ATM card.
