Tornado Watch Lifted for Suwanee; Storm Damage Reported Throughout Atlanta

A storm system prompted a tornado warning Friday.

A tornado watch for Suwanee and the surrounding area was lifted Saturday at 5 a.m. after a stormy Friday night. Damage was reported throughout the metro area.

The same system that spawned a tornado outbreak Friday in the Ohio Valley was at work.

WSB reported that in Haralson County, rescue crews pulled a man from a collapsed home on Bethany Church Road. Observers said the man went to the basement during the storm and fortunately had his cell phone when the two-story home collapsed on him, breaking his leg.

At the Paulding County Airport, there were reports of overturned planes. In Dallas, Poole Elementary School reportedly received heavy damage, with overturned trailers, according to 11alive.com.

Saturday, National Weather Service officials will visit Haralson and Paulding counties to survey damage. At that point, they'll be able to determine if a tornado caused the damage, and if so, how strong it was.

Suwanee Patch will be monitoring the situation locally. Please post pictures and comments about your experiences Friday.
