Where Is the Worst Suwanee Traffic?

The latest data shows were crashes occur most often.

The latest traffic data from Suwanee Police show that many familiar intersections remain troublesome. And one particular stretch of road is particularly crash-prone.

According to city documents, the intersections with the most accidents in Suwanee for 2013 (through May) are (number of accidents in parentheses):

  • Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road at Satellite Boulevard (39);
  • McGinnis Ferry Road at Peachtree Industrial Boulevard (36);
  • Suwanee Dam Road at Peachtree Industrial Boulevard (36);
  • Moore Road at Peachtree Industrial Boulevard (31).
Also, Police Chief Mike Jones noted that the most hazardous stretch of road in the city limits was Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road from I-85 to Horizon Drive. That area had 164 crashes. This was "no surprise," Jones said.

Overall, accidents in Suwanee are up about 9 percent over the same period in 2012 (491 to 452).

Other police figures show that Part 1 crimes (such as homicide, rape, robbery, arson) were down markedly from 2008 to 2012 (638 to 443). Jones said that Part 1 crimes currently are trending similar to 2012.

Jones said the continued decrease in Part 1 crimes is due to technology and "putting officers where they need to be."
