August 'Toast' in Suwanee To Have Music, Marketing

The monthly block party at Town Center is Thursday.

A marketing effort on behalf of Suwanee's popular community garden will be one of the features of the monthly Toast @ Town Center event Thursday.

The August edition also will feature a free concert by A-Town A-List, a popular local music group. This group was to perform at the May Toast event, but that was cancelled because of heavy rain.

Harvest Farm Managing Board officials will be rolling out merchandise and possibly a new website that features the organic garden at White Street Park. Merchandise to be offered for sale includes greeting cards, T-shirts and gardening stakes. Also a matted painting by artist Carol Van Dyck will be available, as well as hand soap called Gardeners Grits.

The website -- tentatively harvestfarmsuwanee.com -- will enable feedback as well as applications for plots. Currently there are 76 plots in use and a waiting list.

The musical event is sponsored by Gwinnett Church, which has plans for a permanent site near Suwanee. A-Town A-List performs popular tunes, from Temptations to Black Eyed Peas, from Sinatra to Buble, according to the city website.
