City of Suwanee App Is Now Live

It is meant to engage mobile users, but is not a substitute for emergency connections.

The ever-growing ranks of mobile Internet users now have another app they can add to their collection -- the City of Suwanee.

The app Go! Suwanee is now live on iTunes and Google Play, with the official launch set for Suwanee Day (Sept. 21).

The city coordinated the app with Publicstuff.com, which handles mobile technology for other municipalities.

Some parts of the app are still a work in progress. Jessica Roth of the city manager's office noted that a mobile version of the "parks" page is not live yet.

Also, the app is meant as a complement to the regular city website, which contains detailed documents. For instance, the app would not be a tool for downloading the city budget.

It is seen as a tool for residents to report non-emergency service requests, as well as find out about facilities and services.

An urgent police matter or serious public works matter still should be reported via traditional channels, as the app's service requests are only handled during normal business hours.
