Early SPLOST Voting To Be Available in Suwanee

Some voting begins as soon as Monday.

Voting is near on whether to extend the SPLOST in Gwinnett, and Suwanee will be one of the early voting sites.

Officially, Election Day in Gwinnett will be Tuesday, Nov. 5, on whether voters want to renew the current 1 percent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. But the early/satellite voting that is a part of other elections also will take place for this vote.

Early voting will being Monday, Oct. 14, at the county Elections Office in Lawrenceville (455 Grayson Highway, Suite 200, Lawrenceville).

On Oct. 26, and again from Oct. 28-Nov. 1, voters also can cast ballots at George Pierce Park in Suwanee (55 Buford Highway), as well as other satellite locations in the county.

The 1 percent SPLOST expires in March 2014, and voter approval would extend the tax for three years. Officials from the county and the cities say they would use most of the proceeds for transportation projects.
