Some Starbucks, RaceTrac Food Items Affected by Recall

Some 40 items sold at locations in Georgia and elsewhere have been recalled. Gwinnett maker involved.

More food recalls have been issued by a Gwinnett manufacturer. Earlier this month, Flying Food Group  throughout the county.

Friday the Food and Drug Administration announced an additional recall of some 40 items including sandwiches, parfaits and salads because they potentially could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. There have been no reported illnesses related to this issue.

The products were made for ,  and Core-mark Atlanta and distributed in Georgia, Alabama and Florida.

According to the FDA, Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Symptoms are generally short-term and include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infections can also cause miscarriages or stillbirth in pregnant women.

The FDA says Flying Foods has suspended the production of all products at the Lawrenceville facility pending a full investigation into the source of the problem.

 released the following statement in response to the  issued Thursday by Georgia–based supplier, Flying Food Group: 

“ considers the safety of our guests and in-store team members of paramount importance. On July 25, 2011, prior to any official announcement, we learned of a pending voluntary product recall of USDA/FDA-regulated food distributed in Georgia by one of our food suppliers, Flying Food Group. As a proactive measure to protect the best interest of our guests,  preemptively removed all products prepared and provided by Flying Food Group from our 65 Georgia stores on July 25. No other RaceTrac products or markets were impacted. Any reports to the contrary are incorrect.
