Herman Cain and Fans Go Live in Gwinnett

The Atlanta-based talk show host brings his show to the Duluth Town Green.

Updated 12:09 p.m.

Unlike the weather Friday (Oct. 25), the reception in Duluth was warm for Herman Cain. The Atlanta-based WSB radio talk show brought his gig to the Town Green, beginning at 9 a.m.

Once the show began, little attention seemed to be paid to the elements. Cain's rheortic and the atmosphere of the live broadcast had those in attendance involved.

Cain, who ran for president as a Republican in 2011, brought a conservative message to Friday's show and the Duluth audience.

Some excerpts:

-- On recent school shootings: "Each community should decide for itself how it will protect its children."

-- "They are trying to micromanage health care out of Washington, D.C."

-- "Social Security is headed off a cliff, and they (Washington) won't fix it. Medicare is headed off a cliff and they (Washington) won't fix it."

-- "We (working class) are being abused."

-- "I don't represent the Republican Party. ... I am speaking from the principles of right and wrong."

Such live gigs are rare for Cain. A show spokesperson said that Friday's live show was the third in 2013, with one more planned.

Breaks in the Friday's show led to audience giveaways and involvement, including an "ugly shoe" contest."

Cain's show concluded at noon.
