Hilscher To Be New Council Member in Suwanee

She was the only qualifier for the vacant post, so there will be no election.

Suwanee attorney Beth Hilscher can add a new accomplishment to her resume and online profile -- Suwanee City Council member.

Hilscher, also involved with the Suwanee Downtown Development Authority, was the only person to formally qualify for the vacant City Council post, so by city charter rules, there will be no election on July 31, according to elections supervisor Elvira Rogers. Qualifying ended at noon Wednesday.

Hilscher will succeed Jace Brooks, who resigned in May to seek the District 1 post on the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners.

Suwanee City Attorney Marty Allen said Wednesday afternoon that he is not sure when Hilscher will be sworn in; he plans to consult with city staff.

Suwanee Patch will have more coverage of this development.
