A joint effort between the county and state departments of transportation will bring new flashing yellow arrow turn signals at two intersections in Gwinnett County.
According to a press release from Gwinnett County, the signals will be installed at the intersections of Ga. 13 (Buford Highway) at George Pierce Park in Suwanee and Ga. 124 (Scenic Highway) and Pharrs Road in Snellville.
Those intersections historically high left-turn volumes.
Weather permitting, the signals will be installed by Friday, March 14.
According to the press release:
The new signals will consist of a vertical display of four left turn arrows that function as follows:
- When the solid red signal is illuminated, drivers may not turn left.
- When the solid yellow signal is illuminated, drivers must prepare to stop.
- When the flashing yellow signal is illuminated, drivers may turn left but yield to pedestrians and oncoming vehicles.
- When the solid green arrow is illuminated, drivers may turn left.
