@Pat- Self-reliance, innovation and entreprenurial spirit. Is that all it takes? Huge corporations act like huge governments. They are bloated, bureaucratic, and prefer to keep the status quo. Yes, we are the most technically advanced. Where are many of these technical ideas born and raised? That's right- big government organizations like the DoD, NASA, DARPA, and others. And what about "too big to fail" corporations like Bear Stearns, BoA, and Chase? Another group of huge corporations we are at the mercy of. The best healthcare is available- if you can afford it. Do you know any elderly who have to decide which medication they can't afford this month? Your alarmist "Obama muyst be stopped" doesn't even adress any issues.

@Joe- Who ignored a balanced budget: Bill Clinton or George W. Bush? Just because someone is a Democrat doesn't mean they have a patent on dumb ideas and bad behavior. And yes, those pesky green energy policies. Acid rain, sulpher dioxide, carbon dioxzide, and mercury- not to mention one of the most dangerous indisyties for workers- are all inventions by the Democrats just to scare us. People had a hard time switching from the horse and buggy, Joe, but we did it.

Phil, why didn’t you use your real name? Yes, self-reliance, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit are what it takes unless you just want the government to give you all of what you think you are entitled to. Who pays for all of the out of control government programs? Tax payers. Businesses pay employees without using tax payers money. Most businesses are not bloated. That is a generalization that I do not accept as fact. They are more efficient, do more with less to turn a profit or they will fail (unless the Government bails them out). On the contrary, failed big government programs just keep getting money thrown at them (tax payers money). You are also incorrect about technical ideas, innovation and invention. They are typically born and brought to fruition by entrepreneurs. No alarmist here, just looking at the facts (and we have not even commented on our failed foreign policy).

Phil, I never mentioned Bush but since you mentioned Clinton didn't he Get hold of an economy that Ronald Reagan started?... They always made fun of Trickle down economics but if you look at it.... It was Reagan's policies with taxes that made it possible for Clinton to say Look at my economy. And by the way, the media never mentions Newt, his contract with America and the 104th congress in their propaganda. Clinton achieved more with the 104th than he did with the Democrat controlled 103rd...gee. And if you can switch to going green at a reasonable cost I say go for it but a couple quick questions: How are the solar panels on your roof working out for you or the turbine wind mill in your front yard?...are they powering the computer your sitting in front of?

Phil, regarding Bush... Bush’s deficit spending was $410 billion a year divided by 365 days, which equals $1.1 billion per day. Versus Obama’s deficit spending, which has been $1,413 billion a year divided by 365, which equals $3.87 billion per day. That is 3.5 times more spending every single day from Obama. And guess what? This doesn't even calculate Obamascare into it... Bottom line is Obama doesn't have a plan...He offered a budget that was so ridiculous that not even ONE DEMOCRAT would vote for it. It failed 97-0 in the Democrat-controlled Senate. Yep-Bush spent like a drunken sailor but Obama is the captain of the ship to nowhere. And PS: The Democrats who controlled both branches of congress from 06-11 have their hands all over our present circumstances...
