New Soccer Fields Approved for Rock Springs Park

Restroom and concession facilities also planned in project.

Rock Springs Park, located between Lawrenceville and Suwanee, will be getting three new soccer fields, the county announced Tuesday.

Construction of the fields, along with restroom and concession facilities, was approved by Gwinnett commissioners, who awarded a $242,000 contract to McFarland-Dyer & Associates Inc. of Suwanee, the low bidder to develop the construction documents.

The 113-acre park, opened in 2008, currently has a football field with a lighted walking track and six lighted tennis courts plus a playground, pavilion, and a two-mile paved multi-purpose trail. It is located at the intersection of Old Peachtree Road and Rock Springs Road.

“Residents recommended and approved this new phase in the development of Rock Springs Park as part of the 2009 SPLOST program, so I’m pleased we are now delivering on that promise,” District 1 Commissioner Jace Brooks in a statement. “The much-needed soccer complex will serve the area well.”
