Lane Closures at QT Should Continue This Week in Suwanee

City suggests an alternative to avoid traffic disruptions on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road.

The road work at and near the site of the new QuikTrip on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road at Satellite Boulevard should keep causing disruptions this week, according to the city's website.

Lanes will be closed and traffic delayed, said a notice on www.suwanee.com. A suggestion is to use the new McGinnis Ferry Road extension that goes over I-85 to avoid the backup on Lawrenceville-Suwanee.

This extension begins near the Super H-Mart store in the Gateway area and runs to Satellite Boulevard on the other side of I-85.

A former residential property, it was rezoned commercial in late 2010. QT made a voluntary $15,000 contribution to the city's Public Art Fund and agreed to retain some of the picturesque trees at the site.

A portion of the parcel, 1.4 acres, remains for sale, according to the agent. It is listed at $825,000. City officials previously denied a car wash to develop the property.
