Restaurant Inspections: Suwanee Restaurant Gets a 'U'

Know before you go. Check the results of health inspections at area eateries.

A Suwanee restaurant has received an "unsatisfactory" rating in a recent inspection from the East Metro Health District, which serves Gwinnett County.

Wasabi & Sushi at 1291 Old Peachtree Road received a score of 36 in an routine inspection on Oct. 9, according to documents. It had never scored below the 80s in previous inspections.

More than a dozen new violations were cited, including paper towels being used to wrap fish, a bowl of rice in water being stored on the floor under a work table, and the walls and floor behind and underneath the cook station "are not clean."

Also, no consumer advisory was posted for raw and undercooked foods.

The report noted that if another "U" grade is given on the next routine inspection, the restaurant's permit may be suspended. The next routine check would be in 45-60 days, and a follow-up in 10 days.
