Suwanee 2013 Events: Food Truck Fridays Are Possible

The city's tentative calendar also includes some returning favorites.

It's still in planning mode, but don't be surprised if you see an unusual amount of food trucks hanging around Suwanee Town Center Park in 2013.

Several Food Truck Fridays are on the city's tentative events calendar for the coming year. These will replace the monthly Toast @ Town Center street festivals.

Denise Brinson, the city's economic development director, gave City Council members a rundown Thursday (January 10) of the draft version of the festivities.

Food Truck Fridays would be May 3, June 7, August 2, and September 6. This means Suwanee would join a growing number of cities and venues to host the rolling vendors. There is the Atlanta Food Truck Park, and the Atlanta Street Food Festival was held last July.

Brinson said that the food trucks would be located in the vendor area near the amphitheater stage, and that onstage entertainment is likely. She also said that Town Center restaurants do not feel threatened by a food truck invasion, since it brings visitors to the park area.

Dates have been reserved for concerts, including Suwanee Day, but no performers have been booked. In 2012, Vertical Horizon and The Smithereens were the noted rock acts.

Other possible event plans for Suwanee include:

  • Suwanee Beer Festival, March 16
  • Woofstock, May 11
  • Arts In The Park, May 18
  • Suwanee Day, September 21
  • Taste Of Suwanee, October 12
  • Korean Festival, October 19-20
  • Christmas In The Park, December 13-14
