UPDATE: Suwanee OKs Repair Work on Greenway Trail

A bid for $722,400 is approved for the repair duties.

Updated Oct. 14, 2011

Suwanee City Council members unanimously approved Thursday a contract for repair work on a one-mile section of the Suwanee Creek Greenway. A contract for about $722,400 was on the agenda for Thursday's called .

The matter was tabled from the September Council meeting to give officials more time to study the bids. Eight were submitted, and Georgia Development Partners was awarded the deal. Their bid is well below previous cost estimates of $1.1 million for the project.

The work will be done on the greenway from Martin Farm Road to Suwanee Elementary School. The closure will last for seven months, according to Crossroads, the city's official newsletter. The timing was chosen because usage drops off in the fall and winter months.
