Suwanee Resident To Seek Woodall's Seat

Hancock is COO of ACP. Also, a Lawrenceville attorney will seek the district post as a Democrat.

U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall has a challenger from Suwanee in his bid for re-election.

David Hancock, chief operating officer of Alpharetta-based Automation Control Products, has qualified as a Republican to challenge Woodall, according to records with the Georgia Secretary of State's Office. The GOP primary is July 31.

Qualifying as a Democrat to seek the District 7 seat was Steve Reilly of Lawrenceville.

Hancock said on his website that he would serve just one term and would not accept any campaign funds.

"Congress should not be a career, so my goal is to spend only one term in Washington," Hancock's website reads. "Serving in Congress would be a great privilege, but it would also be a burden on my family and my business.  I am counting on the fact that after one term someone else will come forward to take their turn."

Hancock cited excessive federal spending as a reason for seeking the District 7 seat.

"Our country is at a point that unless we elect a majority of Congressmen and Senators who are committed to reducing the size and scope of the Federal Government we may not survive," his website reads.

"We are spending at unsustainable levels, and no matter what they say, Congress continues business as usual. When I wrote this the debt listed on the official government ‘debt’ website was $15,674,182,767,474.36, a number I can’t even begin to understand.  Currently the total debt is at 104% of the US GDP and still the spending continues, piling even more debt on us and our children."

Reilly is a partner in the Lawrenceville law firm of Andrew, Merritt, Reilly & Smith, LLP., according to Snellville Patch. He lives in Peachtree Corners.

Woodall is beatable. Make no mistake about it. His Democratic challenger can stand up to him

I've known Mr. Hancock for several years, and he is as honest as they come. No more career politicians for us...been there, done that...got the tax bills and Federal deficit to show for it. Take a look at Mr. Woodall's pay increases as Congressman Linder's Chief of Staff, and then look at Congressman Woodall's own Chief of Staff payroll increases. The economy's been in the dumps since 2008, and the career politicians' pay increases just keep going up.
