The July 31 vote, which is being held across metro Atlanta, would authorize a 1 percent sales tax increase. The reported $8.5 billion in funding would be used for transportation-related improvements throughout Gwinnett and metro Atlanta.

Suwanee and Gwinnett elected officials both support the TSPLOST, saying the transportation improvements are needed to relieve traffic congestion and attract employers to the region. Opponents say the elected leaders could shift monies after the tax is approved, and they note that the list of proposed projects still could be changed.

Voting for the TSPLOST will be at Gwinnett precincts.
