Suwanee School Improvements Planned With E-SPLOST Funds

Gwinnett voters Tuesday will have the option of extending the one-cent sales tax.

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, Suwanee and other Gwinnett County voters will be asked to approve a continuation of the educational Special Purpose Local Option sales tax, or E-SPLOST. This is a one-cent tax added to every purchase made within Gwinnett County.

The current E-SPLOST will expire on June 30, 2012. The is asking voters to approve an extension of the E-SPLOST, known as SPLOST IV, which will last for another five years.

Over the years, proceeds from this tax have provided Gwinnett County Public School students with classrooms in 46 new schools and 59 school additions as well as technology upgrades within the schools, according to GCPS officials.
