GCPS Board To Hold Public Meetings

Suwanee clusters (District II) gathering set for March 29.

Suwanee residents wanting to give the Gwinnett County school board input about the pending redistricting or the revenue shortfall soon will have some face time with their leaders.

The Gwinnett school board members will be holding a series of public meetings starting later this month. Suwanee's three school clusters -- North Gwinnett, Collins Hill and Peachtree Ridge -- are in District II. The Peachtree Ridge cluster is being affected by a redistricting planned for the 2011-12 school year. Daniel Seckinger is the board member representing this district.

Also, the school board is completing its budget for the 2011-12 school year, and it is facing an $85 million shortfall.

The planned redistricting would shift about 580 students from the Peachtree Ridge cluster to the Duluth cluster. Public input is being sought, and the board is scheduled for a final vote April 21.
