Daniel Seckinger, the Gwinnett school board member whose district includes most Suwanee schools, did not attend Thursday's monthly meeting.
Seckinger was injured Dec. 17 in a motorcycle accident, and since has been recuperating from those injuries.
In a statement Thursday, Superintendent Alvin Wilbanks said that Seckinger is making a steady recovery.
"Bouncing back from an accident can be difficult," Wilbanks' statement said. "However, Mr. Seckinger is focused on making a full recovery and doing do in a manner that allows him to continue to represent the citizens of District II.
Seckinger, a Buford resident, has been a board member since 1995.
The board was scheduled to elect new officers for 2012 at Thursday's meeting.
