GCPS Board Member Still Healing From Motorcycle Accident

Seckinger, whose district includes most Suwanee schools, did not attend Thursday's board meeting.

Daniel Seckinger, the Gwinnett school board member whose district includes most Suwanee schools, did not attend Thursday's monthly meeting.

Seckinger was injured Dec. 17 in a motorcycle accident, and since has been recuperating from those injuries.

In a statement Thursday, Superintendent Alvin Wilbanks said that Seckinger is making a steady recovery.

"Bouncing back from an accident can be difficult," Wilbanks' statement said. "However, Mr. Seckinger is focused on making a full recovery and doing do in a manner that allows him to continue to represent the citizens of District II.

Seckinger, a Buford resident, has been a board member since 1995.

The board was scheduled to elect new officers for 2012 at Thursday's meeting.
