Musical Event To Benefit Lanier Middle Teacher With Kidney Disease

Paul Murphy is on a list for a kidney transplant. Friday's benefit will be at Lanier High School in Sugar Hill.

A special musical event Friday evening at Lanier High School will be held to benefit a teacher in that cluster who is on the list for a kidney transplant.

According to a website posting by Suwanee Magazine, "Live 4 Music" will be held at the Lanier High School theater; doors open at 7 p.m., and music is to begin at 7:30 p.m. Donations will go to benefit a matching grant fund for Paul Murphy, the teacher, at the Georgia Transplant Foundation.

Murphy has polycystic kidney disease, a genetic kidney disease where clusters of fluid filled sacs called cysts develop in the kidneys and interfere with their ability to remove toxins and waste from the blood, the posting said. Eventually, the disease can lead to kidney failure.
