Sugar Hill Students Disciplined Over Medication Use in Class

GCPS says prescription nose spray was used in class.

Two students at Sycamore Elementary in Sugar Hill have been disciplined by school officials for medication use in class, a Gwinnett schools spokesman said.

Two fifth-graders brought and used prescription nose spray in class, according to Jorge Quintana of GCPS.

"If a student has need of prescription drugs during the school
day, their parents should arrange for them to be dispensed through the
school clinic," Quintana said in an email. "Students should not give their prescriptions to other students nor should they use prescriptions that are not theirs."

This is addressed in the district's Student Conduct Code, Quintana said. For privacy reasons, he would not confirm the exact nature of the discipline.
