Suwanee Educators in Gwinnett Teacher of Year Semifinals

The winners in high school, middle school and elementary school divisions will be named Nov. 1.

Teachers from two Suwanee high schools are among those who have reached the semfinals of the Gwinnett schools' 2013 Teacher of the Year competition.

McCall Grosso of North Gwinnett High and Dean Landers of Peachtree Ridge High are among five semifinalists for the honor.

Grosso teaches language arts (10th grade), and Landers teaches physics (11th and 12th grades).

Other semifinalists are Laura Motes Stanley of Brookwood High, Jay Nebel of Norcross High and Debbie Grant of Maxwell High School of Technology.

Semifinalists also have been named in the elementary and middle school categories.

A selection committee will continue to check the teachers' credentials and will visit their classrooms to gather additional info, before naming finalists.

The Teacher of the Year banquet will be Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth.
