Cupcakes With a Twist in Suwanee

Cupcake Diva Girlz has opened in a plaza on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

In Suwanee, there's a suite in a shopping plaza on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard that could get to be known as the "cupcake house."

A short-lived cupcake business has given way to Cupcake Diva Girlz, which actually is a second location for a Dacula business that opened locally by popular demand.

Owner Ramona Hampton said she opened the shop in Suwanee in August (525 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard) because customers would drive from Suwanee and Buford for her wares, and they also informed her of the specific location.

Hampton goes way back with cooking. As she said in an email: "Over 27 years ago I started baking in my grandma's kitchen in Mobile, Alabama. I loved tasting her cakes and soon enough she had me busy cracking the eggs and adding the butter."

Eventually, Hampton moved to Georgia and studied under a French baker. Then she started working in local grocery stores as a pastry chef. Then, she created Custom Design Cakes.

She opened the Dacula location of Cupcake Diva Girlz in 2011, and she touts having over 120 types of cupcakes.

Divas? She says there are nine in Suwanee and two "dudes." There are specials throughout the week, and even a drive-thru.
