Another Suwanee Athlete Gets His Chance in the NFL

Robert Nelson of North Gwinnett signed a rookie contract with the Cleveland Browns.

A third Suwanee-area football player will be on an NFL roster come training camp this summer.

Former North Gwinnett defensive back Robert Nelson, who played at Arizona State, signed a rookie free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns, the Gwinnett Daily Post reported.

He joins two other area players who were selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Ja’Wuan James of North Gwinnett (Miami Dolphins) and Bradley Roby of Peachtree Ridge (Denver Broncos) were selected in the first round on Thursday, May 8.

Nelson was one of many undrafted rookies who signed free-agent contracts or were invited to camp following the 2014 NFL Draft. Seven of those, including Nelson, played high school ball in Gwinnett.

Norcross had two sign: Running back D.J. Adams (Portland State) signed with the San Diego Chargers, linebacker Adrian Hubbard signed with the Green Bay Packers.

Central Gwinnett offensive lineman Kaycee Ike (UAB) signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

South Gwinnett wide receiver Jonathan Krayse (Vanderbilt) signed with Cleveland Browns.

Shiloh tight end Ernst Brun (Iowa State) was invited to the Oakland Raiders camp.

Buford lineman Dallas Lee (Georgia) was invited to camp by the Atlanta Falcons.

In all, 9 Gwinnett players will be in an NFL training camp this summer.
