App Brings UGA Football History to Life

The UGA Vault brings restored game films, highlights and interviews dating to 1929 to the iPhone/iPad.

UGA football fans, you can now watch your faves 24/7 -- in the palm of your hand.

Yes, there's an app for that -- The Vault, now available from the iTunes store for $4.99, puts eight decades of Georgia Bulldogs football film archives to the iPhone and iPad.

Fran Tarkenton? Herschel Walker? Charley Trippi? You got it.

"This footage has not ever been seen - anywhere!," says the promo for the app from One Of A Kind Films.

There's an interesting connection with the app developer -- former Bulldogs kicker Kevin Butler (Redan High) is a vice president.

"On our team of folks, we have a notable Georgia alumnus Kevin Butler who is Vice President of Strategic Partnerships, and obviously that helped us [strengthening] our ties with the athletic department and with the school," Chief Creative Officer Bob Summers told The Red & Black.

The R&B added that the group has acquired decades worth of Georgia game film. It has been digitized, color-corrected, synced with sound, and uploaded to the app's platform. Users can then search for specific games or players that they may have in mind.

Users have unlimited access to the film, and can create a favorites list.

Currently, Georgia is the only school so featured. However, One Of A Kind plans to expand the app to include other schools, including Alabama and Georgia Tech. Other major sports eventually could be included.
