'Big Braves' Help Gwinnett Braves Into First Place

Beachy, McLouth lead 10-2 win over visiting Durham.

A couple of players on rehab assignments from Atlanta helped the Gwinnett Braves reach first place in their division Thursday.

Left fielder Nate McClouth was 2-for-3 and pitcher Brandon Beachy allowed four hits in five innings as Gwinnett defeated the Durham Bulls, 10-2, at Coolray Field. Gwinnett now has a one-game lead in the South division of the International League.

Stefan Gartrell was 3-for-5 with five RBI for Gwinnett.

The teams play again Friday (7:05 p.m.) at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. The regular Friday fireworks display will take place after the game.
