Taylor Heinicke, a former quarterback at Collins Hill High in Suwanee, set an NCAA Division I passing record Saturday (Sept. 22), according to media reports.

Heinicke was 55 for 79 passing (both school records) and he was two completions short of the FCS record. The former yardage record was 716 yards, set in 1990 by Houston's David Klingler.

Heinicke, a sophomore, has thrown for 1,921 and 19 touchdowns for Old Dominion (4-0, 1-0).

"This kid's played 13 football games now. What he's doing is, it's really unconscionable," ODU coach Bobby Wilder told The Richmond Times-Dispatch. "I have a hard time fathoming what he's doing on the football field on a regular basis."

With the game tied at 61 Saturday, Heinicke led the Monarchs on an 11-play, 74-yard drive that ended with Jared Brown's game-winning 25-yard field goal.
