Collins Hill's Moore Playing for a WNBA Title

The Eagles grad now plays for the Minnesota Lynx, who are playing for the WNBA title against the Atlanta Dream.

She grew up in Lawrenceville and played basketball for the Collins Hill Eagles in Suwanee. After a successful run at the , Maya Moore now plays for the Minnesota Lynx in the WNBA.

The Lynx began their series against the Atlanta Dream for the championship on Sunday. Rookie of the Year Moore helped the Lynx beat the Dream 88-74. The forward scored 11 points in game one of the best of five series.

Moore spoke to the Associated Press before the game and talked about playing in her hometown.

Michael Cunningham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution talked to Moore's former basketball coaches at Collins Hill and Georgia Metros AAU teams about the hoops star's success.

Game 2 of the WNBA finals will be Wednesday in Minnesota. Tipoff is at 8pm. ESPN2 will carry the game. On Friday, Moore and the Lynx will travel to Philips Arena in Atlanta for game 3. That game will begin at 8pm and air on ESPN2 as well.
