The Packers were led by wide receiver Willie Woodyard, who ran for one touchdown and caught another to finish the night with 149 all-purpose yards and two scores. The Bulldogs never found any momentum on offense and finished the night with four turnovers. The Bulldogs defense was every bit as tough as the Packers but they allowed one big play for a touchdown and then yielded a score with a short field.
Those in the stands witnessed a game more influenced by the battle in the trenches than by the skill players. The statistics reflect just how physical the play was. At halftime, Colquitt County had 113 total yards of offense on six full possessions and a seventh that ended the half. North Gwinnett also had six first-half possessions in which it totaled just 91 yards of offense.

What North Gwinnett had in the first half that Colquitt County did not have was field position. The Bulldogs found themselves at midfield or better on three of their six possessions after a couple of punt returns and a defensive fumble recovery. The lone score was set up by a punt return to the Packers 27-yard line. It took four minutes of the game clock before Joe Jones scored on fourth-and-goal from the 1.
The Packers stopped the Bulldogs on three plays in the opening drive of the second half and then received a punt. On third-and-long, Cole Segraves executed a shovel pass to Willie Woodyard that went for 75 yards and a touchdown.
North Gwinnett's next possession was the turning point of the game and will be one that Bulldog fans will talk about throughout the offseason.
With 6:58 left in the third quarter and the game tied at 7, the Bulldogs faced a fourth-and-1 on their own 29. Rather than punt and play field position, coach Bob Sphire called a running play that fell short. The Packers took over on downs and converted the short field into seven points when Woodyard scored from the 9 at the 5:05 mark of the third quarter.
Three of North Gwinnett's final four possessions ended with interceptions and the Packers added a late field goal to seal the game. North Gwinnett finished the night with 183 yards of total offense and Colquitt County with 201 yards.
