Atlanta Falcons Bring Annual Scrimmage to Suwanee on Aug. 3

The Friday Night Lights event will be at Peachtree Ridge High.

A tradition for the Atlanta Falcons and for Gwinnett County will renew Friday (Aug. 3), when the NFL team holds its annual Friday Night Lights scrimmage at . Gates open at 6 p.m., with the Falcons taking the field at 6:45 p.m., according to a Falcons news release.

Previously, the team has held the scrimmage at Norcross High, North Gwinnett High, Brookwood High and Mill Creek High. Now, it's Suwanee's turn.

According to the Falcons' website, the event includes a fan fest with interactive inflatable games, a post event autograph session, and a fireworks show. During the live scrimmage, several players including the Falcons quarterbacks, and certain position players will be "mic’d" so fans can get an “under the helmet look” at the action on the field.

The Falcons are beginning their fifth season under Head Coach Mike Smith, and they have reached the playoffs in four of those seasons, including in 2011. However, they never have advanced past the first round.

For 2012, however, the Falcons have something of a new look on the coaching staff. They have a new offensive coordinator (Dirk Koetter) and a new defensive coordinator (Mike Nolan).
